The game of rugby was invented by William Webb Ellis. He was playin g football at rugby school, and picked up the ball and ran with it. Now every four years since 1987, there has been a rugby world cup, and the trophy was named after him. Australia are the current owners of the trophy, and had won it once before. New Zealand and South Africa are the other two countries to have won the trophy.

The six nations have already started this year, and there have already been some big wins, for Ireland and England, and France beating Scotland, in a close match. Unfortunately Scotland fly-half Gregor Townsend was injured early on, which could have made the difference in the match. There is a British Lions tour this year aswell, which should be exciting. |
